Grandma's Buttered Venison

**This one here is one of grandma's classics. Served best with mashed potatoes and canned green beans on a cold winter night**

Tender slices of buttered venison in a rustic cast iron skillet with golden brown gravy

Ingredients

  • Venison, sliced
  • All-purpose flour
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Paprika
  • 1 stick butter (or more if needed)
  • Water

Instructions

1. Slice venison and roll pieces in flour seasoned with salt, pepper, and paprika.

2. Brown the floured venison in a skillet with 1 stick of butter (or more if needed).

3. Transfer the browned venison to an oven-proof pan.

4. Add water to the skillet to deglaze, then pour this liquid over the venison in the oven-proof pan. (most important part creates almost gravy like juice)

5. Bake at 325°F for 1½ to 2 hours, or until tender.

6. Check periodically and add more water if needed to prevent drying out.

Serving Suggestion: This classic comfort dish pairs perfectly with creamy mashed potatoes and tender green beans for the ultimate cold weather meal.
